我们现在的生活很舒适。但别忘了我们还有个邻国——日本。
客人来了，倒酒好好招待,同坐在酒桌边,比比划划共讨如何对付日本.。
又是兵书又是宝剑，这只是想为国杀敌.。
封侯与否无所谓，我只是想海上清静点。
译文二
我自己在小楼之上可以享受一时的高枕无忧的生活，只不过担忧现在的邻居，我们过去的老朋友——倭奴，侵扰海疆的事情。
要是有志同道合的好友来了，就赶紧拿出酒杯，斟满酒，掸净浮尘，坐下共同探讨抗敌大计。
每天读书习武都到很晚，
但并不是为了将来立功封侯，而只是希望百姓过上安居乐业的日子，不再受倭寇的侵扰。
译文三
小筑暂高枕，忧时旧有盟——小楼生活暂时是高枕无忧的，但别忘了虎狼在侧（日本倭寇）。
呼樽来楫客，挥麈坐谈兵——倒酒招呼客人，坐下来挥麈谈兵。
云护牙签满，星含宝剑横——意思是戚继光看兵书一直看到天黑，书上密密麻麻地写满了看兵书的感想和体会，直到满天星辰，宝剑也是横放在身边，不敢有丝毫懈怠，随时准备上阵杀敌。
封侯非我意，但愿海波平——升官封侯并非是我内心的真正志向.，但愿我大明的沿海风平浪静，早日扫清倭寇才是我的愿望啊！
注释
小筑：小楼。
挥麈（zhǔ）：挥动麈尾。晋人清谈时，常挥动麈尾以为谈助。后因称谈论为挥麈。
韬铃：即《六韬》和《玉钤》，皆是兵书。后来称用兵的谋略为“韬钤”。
云护：云层遮掩，即天黑。
牙签：即书签，代指书籍。如孔尚任《桃花扇》：“堂名二酉 ，万卷牙签求售”。
韬钤深处创作背景
戚继光的《韬钤深处》这首诗出自戚继光的诗文集《止止堂集·横槊稿》，是他任登州卫指挥佥事时所写。当时戚继光的生活十分平静，但是，他不甘心这种碌碌无为的生活，渴望做出一番事业，为边疆的安宁奉献一生。于是在一本兵书的空白处，他写下了这样的诗句。
