译文
客人当中有位叫吴国良的朋友，他吹箫献技，那箫声犹如碧波明月下的清沏凄冷气息、又如春日晓雾中的朦胧袅绕。美妙的箫声虽然没有招来娥皇与女英，但听者在水云交织的迷潆中，仿佛听到悦耳的玉饰摇动和磁击的声音。
注释
凭阑人：曲牌名。
吴国良：倪瓒的朋友，宜兴荆溪人。
湘灵：湘水女神。湘水为湖南省境内的一条河流。
环佩：古人衣带上所系之装饰性玉器。

该词具体创作年份未知，当作于逗留宜兴其间，时为春天。作者为赞美友人吹箫的高超技艺而写下了这首小令。

凭阑人·赠吴国良鉴赏
这首小令虽说只有短短四句，但曲家却以清丽的语言，为读者创造出妙趣横生的艺术境界。在作者笔下，吴国良技艺高超，箫音低回清婉。倪瓒泛舟江上，听其吹奏。箫声空灵辽远，如幻如真。那江中晃动之月影，朦胧缭绕之春雾，均为吴郎精妙绝伦的洞箫演奏布置了浓重的令人神往的艺术欣赏氛围。这美妙的箫音，会招致娥皇与女英前来鼓瑟呢，云水之间，声音由远而近，似乎是神女的环佩在轻摇、碰撞，是那么玲珑动听，女神真的眷顾，闻箫声而来。
当然，这样的想象终归只能是想象。作者的意图，一是对友人技艺由衷的赞美，一是对美好生活的向往。元代无休无止的动荡，带给曲家的是性灵的遮蔽感和人生的幻灭感。所以，脱迹尘氛之外，扁舟一叶，吹箫度曲，成为其理想的生活方式。“晚益务恬退，弃散无所积，屏虑释累，黄冠野服，浮游湖山间以遂肥，丰采愈高，不为谄曲以事上官，足迹不涉贵人之门，与世浮沉，耻于炫暴，清而不污，将依隐焉”（元周南老《元处处士云林先生墓志铭》）。倪云林人格高标，文骨清逸，隐于五湖三泖之间，这本身就是一幅大写意。
总之，此曲短小精悍，神韵超逸，正如倪瓒画作中的小品，冲淡醇雅，不为俗染。

倪瓒（1301～1374），元代画家、诗人。初名珽，字泰宇，后字元镇，号云林子、荆蛮民、幻霞子等。江苏无锡人。家富，博学好古，四方名士常至其门。元顺帝至正初忽散尽家财，浪迹太湖一带。擅画山水、墨竹，师法董源，受赵孟頫影响。早年画风清润，晚年变法，平淡天真。疏林坡岸，幽秀旷逸，笔简意远，惜墨如金。以侧锋干笔作皴，名为“折带皴”。墨竹偃仰有姿，寥寥数笔，逸气横生。书法从隶入，有晋人风度，亦擅诗文。与黄公望、王蒙、吴镇合称"元四家"。存世作品有《渔庄秋霁图》《六君子图》《容膝斋图》等。著有《清閟阁集》。
