几只大雁落在平旷的沙洲，凄寒的江面上烟雾迷漫，古营垒那边呜咽的胡笳声，也渐渐地悠然而断。远山起伏，黑魆魆地时隐时显；枯叶在秋风中飘落翻转；天边的几只昏鸦在往来回旋。黄昏里，楼上也是孤寂凄凉，忽又见江面上，千里迢迢漂回来一片孤帆，年华将我推向老年。仰望长空，碧云飘浮，暮色朦胧，此时此刻，不知美人今在何处？关山阻隔，云水迢迢，就是在梦魂中也离她那么遥远!
回想起旧时的欢乐，朱红的大门，深深的庭院，小巧别致的花园里，香气扑鼻的小径上，我至今还能记起她美丽的容颜。纵然是写满丝绢拨断琴弦，也难以倾诉内心的幽怨。这两地相思的凄苦，一樽美酒怎能排遣？我已经把栏杆倚遍。久久地滞留在楼上，任凭那萧瑟西风，吹干了我的泪眼。
注释
苏武慢：词牌名，又名选冠子，或选官子、转调选冠子、惜余春慢、仄韵过秦楼。据《御定词谱》共有十六体。词分上下两片，属于慢词。
平沙：指广阔的沙原。
烟笼寒水：杜牧《泊秦淮》诗：“烟笼寒水月笼沙。“
古垒：古代留下的壁垒。
鸣笳：.吹奏笳笛。笳笛，古管乐器名。
败叶：落叶；枯叶
片帆：孤舟；一只船。
年华：年岁；年纪。
碧云空暮：江淹《休上人怨别》“日暮碧云合，佳人殊未来。”
旧游：昔日的游览。
邃馆：深院。
朱扉：红漆门。
香径：花间小路，或指落花满地的小径。
桃花人面：崔护《题都城南庄》“人面不知何处去，桃花依旧笑春风”。
书盈锦铀：用苏蕙织锦回文诗事。事见《晋书·窦滔妻苏氏传》，云“窦滔妻苏氏，始平人也。名蕙，字若兰。善属文。滔，苻坚时为秦州刺史，被徙流沙。苏氏思之，织锦为回文旋图诗以赠滔，宛转循环以读之，词甚凄惋，凡八百四十字”。后用以指妻寄夫之书信。
金徽：金饰的琴徵。徽，系弦之绳。此处代指琴。
尊：同“樽”，古代的盛酒器具。
危阑：高栏杆。
迟留：停留；逗留。
凭仗：依赖，依靠，任凭。

苏武慢·雁落平沙鉴赏
这首词写羁旅伤别，而从荒秋暮景说起。前三句说的是雁阵掠过，飞落沙滩；秋水生寒，烟霭笼在水上。古垒上，胡笳悲鸣，渐渐地，连这呜咽之声也沉寂了。词中不说“鸣笳声起”，而说“鸣笳声断”，这么描写更显得冷寂荒凉。开端数句，为全词定下了凄凉的基调。从“古垒鸣笳”中，可以感受出动乱时代的气息（作者是北宋末南宋初人）。这种气息，为下文所写的伤离怨别提供了特殊背景，同时也更增添了悲怆意味。
接着，在对荒凉山水的描写中，词人进一步增添感情的成分。山色有无，暗示着归途遥远，这句词化用杜牧“青山隐隐水迢迢”诗意；黄叶萧萧，顿觉秋思难以排解，第五句与末句“凭仗西风，吹干泪眼”前后呼应。天边的夕阳余辉，映照着点点寒鸦纷纷乱乱，飞归林中。以上数句，萧瑟的秋景中意寓着客况凄凉、乡思暗生之意，读之令人已觉其可有人，呼之欲出了。至“楼上黄昏”四字，词人才点出残照当楼之时楼上凝神姚望之人。这表明上边所写整个秋日暮景都是映在这人眼中的景象，染上了人的感情色彩。
“黄昏”二字，有黯然神伤的意味，也就是所谓“断送一生憔悴，只消几个黄昏！”（赵令畤《清平乐》）而这时收入眼底的，偏偏又是“片帆千里归程”。从落雁、昏鸦，写到归舟，思归的主旨更加明显了。时值暮秋，“年华将晚”，人们都离开这荒凉的地方，驾舟归去；而自己昵，却欲归未得。“年华将晚”，这四字之中蕴含悲老大、伤迟暮之意。前有“青山隐隐”，这里又加上“片帆千里归程”，境界寥阔，把人的思绪引向远方。而“片帆”之小与“千里”之遥对比，更显示出此地的荒远和思归心切。“年华将晚”，则加深了思归的紧迫感。
“望碧云空暮，佳人何处，梦魂俱远”三句，化用江淹诗“日暮碧云合，佳人殊未来”，融合无间，犹如灭去针线痕迹，有妙手偶得之感。《楚辞》：“与佳期佳兮夕张”，傍晚，应该是有GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>情人相会之时，然而，暮云已合，伊人不在。“梦魂俱远”，更透过一层，使人感到，关隘山峦阻隔，云水迢迢，即便连梦中也难相会，这就把思归的主题进一步具体化了。
下片转入对“旧游”的回忆。“邃馆朱扉”、“小园香径”、“桃花人面”，这是脑海中浮现的几个难忘的特写镜头，其中弥漫着温馨的气氛，也暗含着对方的身份和词人生活的往事。春光美好，桃花明亮，人面生辉，那记忆中的美好时光，与眼前的秋风败叶、古垒哀笳的萧索环境，成了鲜明的对比。失去的，常常愈觉可贵，尤其是在孤独苦闷之时。在自己已觉难耐，何况对方是个久别后的弱女子。下文紧接“尚想桃花人面”，句断意不断，从对方着笔，写女方对自己的思念。“锦轴”、“金徽”、“寸心幽怨”，这纤细笔触，皆从女方着笔。”锦轴“、”金徽“，这锦中字，琴中音，总道不出别恨。而“寸心”虽小，其中幽怨竟非盈轴之书与满琴之恨所能言尽，相思之苦可以想见。
下文拉回到眼前，并归结到双方合写。书、琴皆难排解忧愁，那么这“两地离愁”，只有用“一尊芳酒”去解。然而离愁的很重，尊酒的却轻，是不能解的。二者对比，造成反衬的效果，更显出离愁之深。在消愁愁更愁之时，词人只有丢下酒杯，无限凄凉地独倚危栏，徘徊楼头。归也不能归，住又无处住。愁肠百转，禁潸然泪下。“凭仗西风，吹干泪眼”八字，酸楚之极。“吹干泪眼”，足见独立之久：“凭仗西风”，只因为无人慰藉，只有西风为之拭泪。辛弃疾词云：“倩何人唤取、红巾翠袖，揾英雄泪？”（《水龙吟》）而他则是自家流泪自家拭，甚至连自己也不想去拭，一直等到被清冷的西风吹干。
此词抒情真切，铺叙委婉，颇有柳七风味。此词开头就与柳词“登孤垒荒凉，危亭旷望，静临烟渚”（《竹马子》）相似。全词由凄凉转为缠绵、悲婉，紧着又转入悲怆，以变徽之音收结，留下了那个纷乱时代的痕迹，这一点又与柳词有异。一结未经人道，独辟蹊径，所谓“伤心人别有怀抱”，顿使全词生色。唯朱敦儒句“试倩悲风吹泪过扬州”（《相见欢》），仿佛有相似之处。

蔡伸（1088—1156）字伸道，号友古居士，莆田（今属福建）人，蔡襄孙。政和五年（1115）进士。宣和年间，出知潍州北海县、通判徐州。赵构以康王开大元帅幕府，伸间道谒军门，留置幕府。南渡后，通判真州，除知滁州。秦桧当国，以赵鼎党被罢，主管台州崇道观。绍兴九年（1139），起知徐州，改知德安府。后为浙东安抚司参谋官，提举崇道观。绍兴二十六年卒，年六十九。《宋史翼》有传。伸少有文名，擅书法，得祖襄笔意。工词，与向子諲同官彭城漕属，屡有酬赠。有《友古居士词》一卷。 存词175首。
