译文
高大的客馆里灯火通明酒也清，直饮至夜钟响归雁鸣的月落时分。
只说是啼鸟要求友朋，无奈那春风里要为您送行。
黄河曲里沙为黄河岸，白马津边柳向白马城。
不要为他乡离别而难过，知道您到处会有人逢迎。
注释
司士：官名。唐代州县设司士参军及司土，掌管工役事务。
张灯：摆设灯火。清：指酒的清醇。
雁归声：指雁归飞时的叫声。
啼鸟堪求侣：《诗经·小雅·伐术》中有“嘤其鸣矣，求其友声”的句子，意思是：鸟儿嘤嘤地叫，欢快地呼唤同伴。作者即用此意。堪：能。求侣：呼唤同伴。
无那：无奈、无可奈何。
黄河曲：黄河湾。
白马津：古代黄河津渡名，在今天河南省滑县东北。
逢迎：迎接的意思。

夜别韦司士创作背景
从诗中所写的情况看，韦司士当是路经滑州，渡黄河北去，诗人与州郡中官吏夜间设宴为书送行。宴席上分韵赋诗送别，诗人拈得“城”字，韦司士与诗人就是这次宴会上所结识的新交。此首送友诗仍作于滑州，时间大约是开元二十五年（737）春天。

夜别韦司士鉴赏
首联写馆舍夜宴。首句点高馆张灯夜宴，酒清香洌，见待客之殷勤，次句连用“夜钟”“残月”“雁归声”三个与夜间及别离相关的意象，既显示时间之推移与宴席时间之长，又渲染浓郁的别离气氛。三种意象，或诉之视觉，或诉之听觉，但都带有凄清、寂寥的色彩韵味。
次联明点送别。上句用典，“啼鸟堪求侣”，是说庆幸自己能够结识韦司士这样的才士为新交。“啼鸟”虽非实写，却关合春天的季候，与下句“春风”，一虚一实，正成对应。下句实指韦司士在这美好的春天将要离此继续前行。不说朋辈送别，而言“春风欲送行”，将“春风”人格化，写出了朋友送别的温煦情意，设想新颖，诗味浓郁。妙在上下两句的开头，分别用“只言”“无那”两个虚词相勾连，既突出渲染了“乐莫乐兮新相知”的喜悦和乍会旋别的无奈，又构成了一气旋折的意致韵味，在流利俊逸的语调中蕴含着浓郁的人情味。吟诵品味这行云流水般的诗联，眼前会鲜明地浮现出诗人风流俊赏、神采清逸的自我形象。
腹联是对韦司士行程所经的想象。唐时滑州州治白马城在黄河南岸。韦司士离此北去，头一站便是黄河岸边的白马津渡，故别后行程首先便写到“黄河曲”“白马津”。这一联写景，只用淡笔轻点，不施浓墨重彩，不加渲染刻画，但却显现出一种天然的风韵。评家或讥其景中无情，实则诗人此处并没有着意寓情于景，他只是要通过轻描淡写来构成一种摇曳生姿的情致。黄培芳说它是“盛唐高调”，倒是比较准确地道出了它的浑成自然而不刻露的韵致。
尾联是对被送对象前路的祝愿，反结“别”字。“他乡暂离别”、“到处有逢迎”，说明韦司士此次在滑州是途中暂时停留，前路尚有逢迎与离别，就像在滑州有短暂的聚会与别离一样。但诗人却以体贴对方感情的口吻说：“希望韦司士不要因他乡的这次暂别而怨怅，因为前路方长，我深知你的为人和才名，你到处都会受到当地主人的热情接待与欢迎。”这就不但将伤别化解为对前路处处有逢迎的热情祝愿和乐观展望，而且对韦司士的为人作了热情的赞颂。这样的结尾，充满了乐观的情调，体现出鲜明的时代气息。
