译文
长时间来一直处于混沌醉梦之中，无端地耗费着人生这点有限的时光。有一天，忽然发现春天即将过去了，于是便强打精神登上南山去欣赏春色。
在游览寺院的时候，无意中与一位高僧闲聊了很久，难得在这纷扰的世事中暂且得到片刻的清闲。

竹院：即寺院。
此处“偷”在有的诗歌版本中作“又”字
浮生：语出《庄子》“其生若浮”。意为人生漂浮无定，如无根之浮萍，不受自身之力所控，故谓之“浮生”。

题鹤林寺僧舍创作背景
诗人李涉在唐宪宗时被贬谪为陕川司仓参军，后来又被流放南方。在他遭遇流放期间，情绪极其消沉。然而，在与鹤林寺高僧的闲聊之中，无意中解开了苦闷的心结，化解了沉溺于世俗之忧烦，于是欣然题诗本篇于寺院墙壁之上，以抒发其内心“又得浮生半日闲”之感慨。

题鹤林寺僧舍鉴赏
“终日昏昏醉梦间”，这一句是诗人对自己遭遇流放时的内在情绪与外在情态的真实描述。诗人从“抑”起笔，首先抒写其消极浑噩的内心情态。在“醉梦”前面修饰以“终日昏昏”，可见诗人面对流放遭遇所表现出来的极度消沉和一蹶不振。从写法上这是采取了先抑后扬的写法，为下文的“扬”做了一个很好的蓄势和铺垫。
“忽闻春尽强登山”，这句是写诗人在百无聊赖之际，浑浑噩噩之中，忽然发现明媚的春光已经快要离他而远去了，于是强打精神走出户外，登上南山，想借欣赏春色以排遣积郁已久的愁苦与不快。这里的“春尽”我们应该不仅仅理解为自然界的春天将要过去了，还应该想到人生青春岁月之有限。诗人不甘心就此消沉下去，不能就这样枉费青春，不甘心庸庸碌碌了此一生，因此才在“忽闻春尽”之后振作精神“强登山”。
“因过竹院逢僧话”，“因”，当为介词，有“由于”之意；“竹院”，就是寺院，僧人参禅悟道修行之地。诗人来这里干什么？有意来的也好，无意路过也罢，总之，人还是进去了，并且与寺内的高僧谈禅悟道闲聊了很久。“逢僧话”之“逢”字告诉读者是无意之中碰到的；“话”，即与老和尚谈禅悟道，聊天，吐露心中的苦闷与不快，探讨人生之喜怒哀乐。作为佛家，对待人生的观念自古多为淡化人生功利，平和情绪心态，面对惨淡现实，视若罔闻，处变不惊。不论有多大的烦恼与不快，学会深藏于心底，这样才能忘记过去，笑对人生，憧憬未来。
“又得浮生半日闲”，点睛之笔。浮生半日闲，是因为过竹院逢僧话。此句深深禅意，揭示了无趣盲目的人生，半日闲最难得。
作者已经对人生有所觉悟，并找出自己的答案。这首诗就是他心境的写照，有人以为是“偷得浮生半日闲”，并对之解释，其实不然“偷得”也好，“又得”也好，并非对人生的消极应对，而是一种自然之道。

李涉（约806年前后在世），唐代诗人。字不详，自号清溪子，洛（今河南洛阳）人。早岁客梁园，逢兵乱，避地南方，与弟李渤同隐庐山香炉峰下。后出山作幕僚。宪宗时，曾任太子通事舍人。不久，贬为峡州（今湖北宜昌）司仓参军，在峡中蹭蹬十年，遇赦放还，复归洛阳，隐于少室。文宗大和（827-835）中，任国子博士，世称“李博士”。著有《李涉诗》一卷。存词六首。
