汉朝时期，严光少年时期与汉光武帝刘秀是同学，刘秀即位后，严光不愿当官，改名隐居起来，刘秀亲自到他的住所请他出山，他委婉谢绝。严光经常与渔人住在一起，经常穿着羊皮衣去钓鱼，自得其乐。
