西汉时期，汉武帝立表妹阿娇为皇后，陈皇后十年来没有生育儿子，嫉妒卫子夫妃子生儿子，被打入“长门宫”，失去了宠爱。她看了辞赋家司马相如的《子虚赋》，就送去一千金请他为自己写一篇《长门赋》，汉武帝看后就重新宠她。
