望门投止的典故

东汉时，山阳高平（今山东兖州一带）有一个叫张俭的人，字元节。延熹八年（公元165年），张俭出任山阳东部督邮（官名，代表太守督察县乡，宣达教令，兼司狱讼捕亡等事）一职。当时，有一个专权的宦官侯览是山阳防东人。侯览家里的人依仗侯览的权势在防东残害百姓，无恶不作。为此，张俭写信告发了侯览和他的母亲。因为侯览整天在皇帝身边转，这封信没到皇帝手中就被侯览扣下了。从此侯览和张俭结了仇。

张俭有个同乡叫朱并，是个奉迎拍马的小人，历来为张俭所不齿。朱并听说张俭告发了侯览，为了讨好侯览，便向朝廷告密，说张俭私结党羽，图谋不规。侯览见后，立即下令逮捕张俭。张俭见官府人马来势凶凶，只好匆匆逃亡，看到谁家可以避难，就投在人家门下。因为当地老百姓都知道张俭历来很正直，名声很好，都冒着风险收留他。
