东汉时期，汉章帝想命令博士曹褒负责修订礼乐工作，班固则主张召集京城所有的儒生共同研究制定礼乐。汉章帝认为让儒生来做就等于“作舍道傍，三年不成”，就坚持让曹褒完成，经审阅，共采纳150篇。
