倾箱倒箧的典故

晋朝时候，太尉郗鉴很喜爱他的女儿，他听说司徒王道的儿子和侄子们都很好，就叫人前去做媒。媒人把意思和王道一说，王道就请他到东厢房去看哪一个少年可以。这人看过以后，回去对郗鉴说：“王家的几位少年都很好，听说我要替你选女婿，个个都装得一本正经的极力表现自己，只有一个人露着肚子睡在东边的床上吃东西，好象不知道这回事一样。”郗鉴听后，说：“这正是我的好女婿啊！”后来，他又亲自去看，果然满意，便把女儿嫁给了这个少年。这位少年便是王道的侄子，后来有名的大书法家王羲之。

郗氏和王羲之结婚后，有一次回娘家，对他的两个弟弟说：王家的人看见谢安和谢万来，立刻把筐子、柜子里收藏的食物都拿出来招待。
